Testimonials

  • After surgery, chemo, radiation and daily injections I felt exhausted, battered and fragile. Both emotionally and physically.
When a friend suggested massage I thought, oh no not another proceedure.
How wrong could I have been! Leisha's healing hands made my body and soul smile. I finally I felt I could leave the sickness, pain and trauma behind and embrace wellness. She brought happiness back into my life and for that I will always be grateful.

Expertise

  • Cancer/Palliative
A doctors clearance must be obtained before commencing Oncology massage treatment. These types of massage are commonly used as complementary therapy and are employed as part of cancer/palliative care. The massage is very gentle, lasting 10 - 20 minutes. The therapist asks for feedback during the treatment. Oncology massage improves quality of life, relieves physical discomfort and improves disposition.
  • Deep Tissue
Remedial Massage / Deep Tissue Massage concentrates on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibers, fascia and tendons. The techniques can include Trigger Point Therapy, deep tissue massage and stretching thereby creating an improved range of motion through the joints. This type of massage therapy addresses specific problems associated with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation, sporting and occupational injuries, and physical and mental fatigue. It's important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate toxins from the body.
  • Hot Stone
Hot stone massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are either placed on key points on the body or used to massage certain areas of the body. The stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heating device until they are within a certain temperature range. The stones may be placed at specific points on the back, in the palms of the hand, or between the toes. The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, which allows for deeper massage techniques to be applied if required.

Does loneliness effect your health?

Lifestyle Trainers

From ABC Health & Wellbeing:

Feeling lonely on occasion is not uncommon – some might say it's part and parcel of being human – so why should we be worried about it?

Well, chronic loneliness can lead to an array of health problems that include anxiety disorders, depression, and substance abuse. It's also a risk factor for cancer and cardiovascular disease.

While it has been known for many years that people who are socially-isolated have poorer immune systems than those who are 'connected,' only in the last few years has the biological mechanism that explains the link between loneliness and ill health been determined.

This group of people also have increased levels of hormones, such as cortisol, a stress hormone. It now appears that these hormones alter gene expression in immune cells, which compromises the body's ability to fight infection and contain inflammation.
